Mandatory for Yatra registration; get it from a government-authorised doctor before departure — without it, Yatra entry is not permitted
Day 4 is for rest only — do not sightsee on arrival day; altitude sickness can become serious if activity begins too early
Recommended to start 24 hours before reaching Leh; keep in your day bag throughout the high-altitude portions
Temperatures can drop to -5°C at Pangong camp even in August — a good sleeping bag, down jacket, thermal layers, and socks are essential

Essential for the Panchtarni–Amarnath Cave trek (rocky, uneven, sometimes muddy terrain)
ATMs in Leh are limited and often have queues; Pangong and Nubra have no ATMs — carry adequate cash from Leh
Pangong Lake area is a protected zone — no single-use plastic is permitted; carry a reusable water bottle
Limited food options on the Amarnath trek and at remote campsites; energy bars, nuts, and ORS sachets are useful
Covered shoulders and legs required at Shankaracharya Temple and all Buddhist monasteries in Ladakh
