Maharashtra Jyotirlinga Circuit

The Maharashtra Jyotirlinga Circuit is the great Panch Jyotirlinga pilgrimage — the only journey in India that brings the devotee to five of the twelve sacred jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in a single state. No other state holds as many. From the mist-wrapped Sahyadri peaks of the Western Ghats to the temple towns of Marathwada, this circuit traces the radiant pillars of Shiva across the heart of Maharashtra: Bhimashankar in the Sahyadri, source of the Bhima river; Trimbakeshwar at the foot of Brahmagiri, where the Godavari is born and the Shiva linga uniquely bears three faces — Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh; Grishneshwar beside the Ellora Caves, revered as the twelfth and final jyotirlinga, whose darshan is said to complete the merit of all twelve; the ancient Aundha Nagnath, held in Maharashtra tradition to be among the oldest jyotirlingas; and Parli Vaijnath, the healing Vaidyanath, Lord of Physicians. This 8-day package begins and ends at Pune and moves in a sacred loop through western and central Maharashtra.
