Travel tips

Carry Voter ID or Passport

Mandatory for Indian passengers on Nepal domestic flights — Aadhaar alone is not accepted at airports.

Warm Clothing is Essential

Temperatures at 3,800m drop sharply even in summer. Carry a down jacket, warm fleece, and comfortable walking shoes.

Book Morning Flights to Jomsom:

Afternoon flights are frequently disrupted by mountain winds — early morning slots have far higher reliability.

Wear Trekking Shoes:

The 30-40 minute uphill walk to Muktinath is on a stone-paved trail — flat-soled trekking or walking shoes required, not heels or chappals.

Currency:

Indian Rupees are accepted across Nepal (1 INR ≈ 1.6 NPR). Keep some Nepali Rupees handy for small purchases and local fees.

Dress Modestly at Temples:

Covered shoulders and knees required at all Nepal temples. Saris and salwar-kameez are appropriate.

Altitude at Muktinath (3,800m):

Move slowly, drink extra water, and rest if needed. Altitude effects are mild and temporary for most visitors.

Personal Medical Kit:

Carry your own medications and altitude tablets (consult doctor) — medical facilities are very limited beyond Pokhara
